What is MEREK?
MEREK is a rural coworking space built at 1600 meters in the mountains of Artvin — designed for digital nomads, artists and creators who seek focus, simplicity and meaningful work.
It emerges from a simple observation: most people don’t struggle with ideas, but with the environments they are placed in. Cities are built for speed, visibility and constant interaction, while deep work requires the opposite — silence, clarity and time.
MEREK was created as an alternative to this condition.
Rooted in the principles of the experience economy and rural development, MEREK brings together working, living and connecting into a single, place-based system. It is not designed as a temporary escape, but as a functional environment where people can produce, think clearly and sustain a different rhythm of life.
At its core lies the idea of productive isolation — a carefully constructed balance between solitude and community. The space removes unnecessary noise while preserving meaningful human interaction. People are not isolated from each other, but from distraction.
MEREK operates through a curated, community-led model. The experience is not imposed from the top down; it emerges through shared rhythms, intentional design and the people who become part of it. The community is selective by design, creating a structure where alignment, respect and contribution shape the overall experience.
Every element of MEREK — from its architecture to its daily flow — is designed with this in mind. The physical space, the surrounding nature and the social structure are not separate layers, but parts of the same system.
MEREK is not simply a place to stay or work.
It is an environment designed to support a different way of producing, living and relating — one that connects people, place and purpose into a coherent whole.

Philosophy
An Ecosystem Designed For Focus
MEREK is built around a simple principle: the environment shapes the work.
The space is designed to remove unnecessary noise and create the conditions for deep, uninterrupted focus. Fast internet, quiet working areas and a natural rhythm replace the constant distractions of urban life.
Stays are structured with a minimum duration, allowing people to move beyond surface-level productivity and enter a more consistent, focused workflow. This is not a place for short visits, but for meaningful work.
The community is curated. People don’t just arrive — they apply. This creates a shared understanding of respect, focus and contribution, shaping a balanced and intentional environment.
Social interaction is not forced, but it is always present. Shared meals, conversations and occasional gatherings emerge naturally, without interrupting individual focus.
MEREK operates as a place-based and community-led system, where the experience is not predefined, but shaped by the people within it.
At the same time, it remains grounded in its local context. A portion of the value created here is reinvested into the surrounding community, ensuring that growth is not extractive, but regenerative.
Social Impact
Impact is part of the ecosystem.
MEREK is built as a social impact-driven model — not as an add-on, but as a core part of how value is created and shared.
The space exists within a real place, with a real community. What is generated here does not leave the region — it circulates within it.
20% of MEREK’s annual net profit is reinvested into local development in Şavşat.
This includes small-scale impact investments that create long-term value for the region and contribute to its socioeconomic development.
The goal is not to extract value from a location, but to contribute to its growth.
MEREK operates as a place-based system where people, production and local development are connected — creating an ecosystem that grows together.
